KONKAN RLY PROMOTES PRODUCTS OF KONKAN ON ITS ROUTE AS ALSO THROUGH WEBSITE

In its effort to provide larger platform for selling of Konkan products like Kokum Sharbet , Amla Sharbet, Sol Kadhi, Ginger Kokum , Khadkhade Ladu, Dink Laddu, papads etc, Konkan Railway’s Women’s Welfare Organisation, called as Konkan Railway Women’s Cultural & Social Service Association (KRWC&SSA), has launched a sale window on KRCL website www.konkanrailway.com. This will enable buyers to order authenticate Konkan products from the comfort of their home. The Hon’ble Minister for Railways, Shri Suresh Prabhu, launched the project from Kankavali station on Sunday, 11th January, 2015.

The website will sell Konkan products made by Self Help Groups of Konkan region and will give them a wider platform to sell their products at better price.

KRWC & SSA was formed in the year 1999 & has been carrying out a lot of welfare activities for KRCL employees and their family members. It has started Sankalp – Education Academy (Coaching Classes) at Nerul, Navi Mumbai for school children where apart from teaching them school subjects, they are also provided training for competitive exams. The Association is actively involved in the “Swachh Vidyalaya Campaign” and has adopted 20 schools along KR route for construction of toilet blocks. Plantation of fruit bearing trees is also undertaken in these schools by the Association. It contributed more than Rs. 4 lakhs to the PM Relief Fund recently towards J&K Relief. It also arranged Goa trip for children suffering from Cancer. KRWC & SSA also provides medical aid & financial assistance to those distressed, Orphanages, poor & deserving students and arranges blood donation camp, etc. These endeavours of KRWC&SSA are being applauded by one and all.
