GOOD WORK BY KONKAN RAILWAY RPF

On 21st February at 19.00 hrs, Inspector Shri Basappa Lamani and Constable Shri Pramod P. posted at Udupi station on Konkan Railway route saw a brown colour bag at Platform No. 1 with no one claiming its ownership. Shri Lamani and Shri Pramod took the trolley bag to the Station Master’s office and prepared the inventory report in presence of the Station Master. The bag contained gold ornaments, including four gold chains, one gold necklace, two gold bangles, 13 gold rings of various sizes, six sets of gold ear rings, one packet of ear ring accessories, and two original birth certificates. Approximate value of gold ornaments was Rs 3,84,000/- .

Through the available records it was ascertained that the owner of the bag was traveling with his family by train No 12620 Matsyagandha Exp in S/2 coach. After identifying their seat numbers in the coach, a message was sent to RPF at Madgaon who contacted the passengers. The owner of the bag had till then not realized that he had left the bag behind. He said that they were returning to Mumbai from their native place Udupi after celebrating the first birthday of their twin daughters. As they were not able to get down from the train and go back to Udupi to collect the bag, he asked his brother-in-law and sister to collect the bag from the RPF at Udupi. After due verification, the same was handed over to the relatives by the RPF.

The owner of the bag appreciated the effort of RPF in locating him and safe handing over of the bag.
