The Plant is able to achieve complete exterior cleaning of a rake of 24 coaches in about 10 minutes time.
KR has successfully commissioned the Plant at the Coach Care Centre Madgaon and  at Dum-Dum (Noapara) car shed of Metro Railway, Kolkata. Konkan Railway can set up similar plants at various coach maintenance depots of Indian Railways. ‘Effluent Treatment Plant’ and ‘Water Softening Plant’ are also provided on demand.

KR, after extensive field trials, has developed LED light fittings of 24 Watts suitable for tunnels and provided the same in lieu of 70 Watts High Pressure Sodium Vapour (HPSV) lamps. The LED lamps conserve about 30 to 40% of energy and provide 2 to 3 times more illumination as compared to HPSV lamps. With this provision, visibility and clarity of signage provided inside tunnels has significantly improved resulting in enhanced safety levels.

Continuing its endeavour to promote usage of clean energy, KR is installing Solar Power Plant of 350 KW at Ratnagiri. This will generate all the energy necessary for requirements of Ratnagiri. We intend to take further leaps in this field and increase our capacity upto 1 MW to become net exporter of Electrical Energy. Besides, 20 KW Solar Power Plant has also been installed at Karmali station.
