On the occasion of the World Environment Day, a group of Konkan Railway employees conducted a Cycle Rally at 0900 hrs from Konkan Railway’s Corporate Office at Belapur via Vashi, Airoli, Thane-Belapur Road, Kharghar and back to Belapur. On the occasion, CMD/KRCL, Shri Bhanu Prakash Tayal, also inaugurated a Cycle Stand for the employees at the Corporate Office building in order to draw more employees to take to cycling.

At a time when air pollution is causing climatic changes globally and also fossil fuel being a limited natural resource, Konkan Railway employees are taking to cycling in order to contribute their bit to the conservation of environment.

The group, wearing unique Dark Blue and Yellow jerseys with the “Save Water, Save the Earth” message printed at the back, drew the attention of the public towards the cause by cycling on the day.

The Konkan Railway employees had early this year formed the Cycling Group “KR Cycling Enthusiasts Group” for advocating physical fitness amongst its members. It is conducting weekend cycling sessions in and around Navi Mumbai as well as going to long destinations.
