RE-RAILMENT WORK AT SITE

Konkan Railway officials are working on war footing at the affected site for bringing about an early restoration. As many as 155 labour and about a hundred KR officials, including Director (Operating & Commercial) – Shri Sanjay Gupta – and the Principal Chief Engineer – Shri Rajesh Agarwal, are at the site to attend to re-railment of coaches and restoration of the track under the guidance of Chairman & Managing Director of KRCL, Shri Bhanu Prakash Tayal.

So far, 8 coaches have been re-railed and work is in progress to re-rail two more coaches.

Konkan Railway arranged for 5 buses for transshipment of passengers and paid Rs.2,56,255/- in refund (as at 1700 hrs) to the passengers who did not wish to continue their journey by train. Though partial refund is admissible for remaining part of the journey which has been cancelled, KRCL as a special gesture, has permitted full refund of the fare to the passengers.

A special train was organized by Konkan Railway for taking the passengers of the affected Duronto Express to their destination which was escorted by KRCL officials for its smooth journey with full catering arrangements for the passengers.
