KONKAN RAILWAY USERS' CONSULTATIVE COMMITTEE (KRUCC) MEETING COMPRISING OF HON'BLE MPs,MLAs,REPRESENTATIVES OF CHAMBER OF COMMERCE & INDUSTRIES AS WELL AS PASSENGER ASSOCIATINS HELD AT MURUDESHWAR FOR IMPROVING  SERVICES TO ITS ESTEEMED PASSENGERS ON KONKAN ROUTE

Kokan Railway is always open to suggestiions from all the corners  for improving services to its esteemed passengers in addition to the existing ones,which is a continuous process. It has ,therefore, earned a good will amongst the passengers travelling regularly on its route. It's always alive to their needs , may it be safety, security, cleanliness, passenger amenities, punctuality and efficient train operations, introduction and extesion of additional services,etc.  Customer Satisfaction is its ultimate motto.
To provide   opportunity for open  mutual consultations on these issues, 14th Konkan Railway Users' Consultative Committee Meeeting was organised  at Murudeshwar on 26th May,2016, which was graced by  S/Shri Vinayak Rautji & Anant Kumar Hegdeji , Hon'ble MPs from Maharashtra & Karnataka, Smt. Sharda Mohan Shetty, Hon'ble MLA from Karnataka, S/Shri Ashish Pednekar & Vijay Kenavadekar, representatives from Maharashtra Chamber of Commerce, S/Shri Gangaram Morajkar &  from Goa Chamber  Commerce and  Hon'ble Minister for Railway's Special Nominees,  Smt. Varsha Raikar, S/shri Alimiya Kazi and PC Gupta.
Shri Sanjay Gupta, Chairman & Managing Director of Konkan Railway , who is also the Chairman of KRUCC , attended the meetings alongwith concerned Directors & Heads of Departments of Konkan Railway. While welcoming the distinguished Members, CMD/KRCL apprised them of the following initiatives that KRCL had taken under the initiative & guidance  of Hon'ble Railway Minister  Shri Suresh Prabhu towards its commitment for improvising the passenger services on KR route :-

* Booklets on  Three Years Achievements of Indian Railways in general and Konkan Railway in particular were distributed to Hon'ble Members for their perusal and information.

* Tejas Express one of the modern  & unique train service on Indian Railways was first introduced on Konkan Railway between Mumbai & Karmali on KR Route.

* As a special tribute and respect towards  Late Shri Kusumagraj, Distinguished & Reknowned Poet of Maharashtra, Rajya Rani Exp on KR Route was renamed as " Tutari Express".

* Highest number of Holiday Specials i.e. 736 nos of train services were run during summer and festive occassions during the year 2016-17 and 216 nos upto May during 2017 alone.

* Ten Stations viz. Chiplun,Kanakavali, Kudal, Sawantwadi, Pernem, Thivim, Madgaon, Mugambika Road/Byndoor, Udupi and Suratkal were undertaken for Station Redevelopment with various additional passenger amenities such as platform/modular  shelters ,Bio-toilets, CCTVs, free Wi-Fi facilities, Renovation of toilets, additional concrete benches, , New Waiting Halls,  Booking Offices, Escalators, Additional loop lines, approach roads to newly constructed station buildings, Ethnic Food Stalls, LED lights, Solar Power Connectivity, Improving circulating area in station premises, New FOBs, PRS at Station and Post Offices, Extension of platforms, Enhanced Parking Capacity, ATMs, New Food Stall ( Nestle) Video Walls, Digital Passenger Information Boards, New AC Lounge by IRCTC, etc. In addition two new halt statins at Saundal and Veravali were provided on KR Route .

* Salient Features of Konkan Railway including its latest financial performance, train operations both passenger and freight , earnings,operating ratio, etc. were apprised to Hon'ble Members through PPT.

While appreciating the services and initives by  Shri Suresh Prabhu, Hon'ble MR and also that of  Konkan Railway, for the convenience of passengers on KR route , Hon'ble KRUCC Members  have also given certain additional suggestions for further improvements, which will certainly be examined in detail and feasibility explored for implementation as Konkan Railway believes that improvement is a continuous and never ending process !
