Keeping in view the needs of women, Konkan Railway has installed a Sanitary Napkin vending machine at Ratnagiri, Madgaon & Udupi Railway Station to benefit women visiting the Railway Station.
Sanitary Napkin Vending Machine named “Genext” has a capacity of 25 menstruation pads is a Self Service Vending Machine used for dispensing Sanitary Napkin against acceptance of 5 rupee Coin. To provide easy access and to ease the travelling experience for women, Sanitary Napkin Vending Machines are installed in Ladies waiting hall of these stations.
In first phase of this initiative, Sanitary Vending Machines has been inaugurated at Ratnagiri, Madgaon and Udupi stations of Konkan Railway on the occasion of International Women's Day i.e. 8th March 2018. It’s a great initiative from the Konkan Railway towards menstrual health and hygiene of women. This machine dispenses sanitary napkins at a cost of Rs.5/- only and accepts only coins.
In a function held today at Madgaon station, Dr. Babita Prabhudesai Angle, Chairperson, Madgaon Municipal Council inaugurated Sanitary Napkin Vending Machine installed at ladies waiting hall. At Ratnagiri station Sanitary Napkin Vending Machine was inaugurated by Smt Annu Yadav, Dy. Commandant, Indian Coast Guard, Ratnagiri and by Smt Nayana Ganesh, District BJP Mahila Morcha President at Udupi Railway Stations.
With this facility, KR has further stepped ahead in ensuring comfortable and dignified journey for women passengers.
