Celebration of Independence Day - 2020 over Konkan Railway

Konkan Railway celebrated Independence day at Konkan Rail Vihar, Nerul, Navi Mumbai, maintaining appropriate social distancing norms. Shri. Sanjay Gupta / Chairman and Managing Director unfurled the National Flag and addressed Executives and Staff gathered.

This year the coronavirus has affected the world and changed the definition of “Normal”.  The effect on Railways has been no different. Yet this hasn't affected the unstoppable spirit of KRCL employees.

During this corona pandemic, a total of 94 nos. of Shramik specials were run from Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Thivim, Karmali, Madgaon, Udupi Stations to various parts of India. Konkan Railway ensured the safe arrangements and smooth functioning of these Shramik special trains in coordination with respective State Governments. In addition, Parcel Specials and Ro-Ro services are operating to ensure smooth transportations of essential commodities. This year 194 trips of Ganpati Special Trains have been announced between Mumbai Central, Bandra (T), Mumbai CSMT, Lokmanya Tilak (T), Ahmedabad, Vadodara and Ratnagiri, Kudal and Sawantwadi Road stations.

All departments of Konkan Railway have teamed up as always and are striving to fight this pandemic. Timely distribution of masks, soaps, sanitizers, thermal scanners for all employees of Konkan Railway is ensured. COVID quarantine centers have been setup at Chiplun, Ratnagiri, Madgaon, Verna, Karwar and Udupi Stations.

Monsoons have always been tricky in the Konkan region. No weather conditions hamper the spirit of our employees. Safety first is the motto of Konkan Railway - There are no shortcuts for it. Our staff is working round the clock by performing timely maintenance of tracks and assets  to ensure smooth and safe train operations. Konkan Railways has always promoted a paperless office that has benefited vastly during this Corona pandemic.

The works of Udhampur - Srinagar - Baramulla Rail Link (USBRL) Project is in progress and moving at a fast pace.  The works of Raxaul - Kathmandu  Rail Line survey has been awarded to KRCL. In another step towards progression, the DEMU train for the Nepal Project is already ready. 

Electrification on Konkan Railway is in fast progress. In March 2020, the electrification for 108 km from Bijoor to Thokur was approved by CRS.  

Konkan Railway has reached lakhs of public via. Social media channels of Konkan Railway and has timely intimated the public of important railway announcements.

A weeklong cleanliness drive was undertaken by Konkan Railway from 10th to 16th August to mark the Independence Day - 2020. Intensive cleanliness drives were conducted at all Railway stations, Station surroundings, Railway colonies, etc. All Employees actively participated, maintaining social distancing norms.
