"Swachta Pakhwara" a two-week-long awareness campaign on cleanliness was observed from 16th to 30th September 2023 and extended upto 02nd October 2023 with a view to culminate it with the celebration of Mahatma Gandhi’s jayanti. This campaign aligns with the national "Swachh Bharat Abhiyan" and emphasizes the importance of maintaining a clean and green railway ecosystem.

Swachhata Pakhwara on Konkan Railway commenced with a Swachhata Pledge undertaken by Employees over Konkan Railway. The key highlights of activities taken up during the Pakhwara as under.

• Swachh Samwad - Awareness Programs on cleanliness like Nukkad Nataks, Prabhat Pheris were organised at stations on the subject of Importance of cleanliness at Public places.

• Intensive cleaning was undertaken in trains, railway tracks, offices, railway stations & its surroundings, pantry cars, railway colonies, depot, lobbies, health units etc. Swachh Parisar - Cleanliness drives were undertaken by Executives and Staff in the Railway colonies, depot, lobbies, health units.

• Swachh Ahar - Intensive drive has been undertaken to ensure cleanliness at all the food stalls, rest houses, running rooms etc over Konkan Railway. Inspections were carried out by Railway officials at all the catering stalls, base kitchens and the pantry cars to ensure that food being served to passengers is prepared in a hygienic environment with emphasis on disposal of garbage, kitchen & catering waste.

• Swachh Neer - Intensive cleanliness drive and inspections were carried out at all water installations, water supply sources at stations, offices, Railway colonies to ensure availability of Swachh Neer.

• Swachh Prasadhan & Paryavaran - A special drive has been taken up at all stations & its surroundings ,coaching depots, offices  to ensure cleanliness of toilet blocks. Officials of Konkan Railway conducted various inspections to check overall cleanliness to ensure a tangible improvement.

• Swachh Spardha - Mirjan station was selected as the best station in Karwar region during the pakhwara.

• Commendation letters were given for Swachh Sarvajanik Ganesh Pandal organised at stations and colonies over Konkan Railway.

Swachhta is not just a one-time event but an ongoing commitment of  Konkan Railway. We firmly believe in providing our passengers not only a clean railway but also a hygienic, and healthy environment throughout their journey.
