KONKAN RAILWAY TO UPGRADE PASSENGER AMENITIES FOR ITS ESTEEMED PASSENGERS ON KONKAN RAILWAY ROUTE

 
Now, Konkan Railway stations will also have escalators like Mumbai Suburban stations and other major stations on Indian Railways.  In this regard, Hon’ble Minister for Railways, Shri Suresh Prabhu directed CMD while discussing the passenger amenities available on Konkan Railway stations.  Hon’ble MR has given direction that passenger amenities have to be upgraded at all the stations of Konkan Railway.  Since the number of passengers has gone up, there is a need to widen the platforms besides providing more benches for sitting as well as extending cover sheds on all the platforms.  The cover sheds are very important in Konkan Region in view of very heavy rainfall and long monsoon period.  Hon’ble Minister has also emphasized to provide toilet facilities at all stations and instructed that cleanliness of the toilets must be ensured by Konkan Railway.

 
CMD has assured the Hon’ble Minister that suitable action will be taken to upgrade the passenger amenities at the stations within a short period.  CMD also apprised that Konkan Railway has decided to provide bio-toilets at all the stations and the work would be speeded up.
