Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd. (KRCL) entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with National Geophysical Research Institute (NGRI), an arm of the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research, under the Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt. of India, on 07th August 2018 at the Main Office of NGRI in Uppal, Hyderabad.
The objective of the MoU is to bring about speedy and accurate acquisition of geological information from surface to around 400 metres depth by heli-borne geophysical surveys in prospective tunnel projects of KRCL. With this collaboration, KRCL aims to propagate the technologies and prowess now available in India in reducing the challenges posed by uncertain geological conditions plaguing tunneling in mountains and hilly terrain.
The MoU was signed by Sh. Sanjay Gupta, Managing Director of KRCL and Dr. V.M.Tiwari, Director, NGRI in the presence of senior officers of KRCL & NGRI.
