ARRANGEMENTS MADE FOR GANESH FESTIVAL – 2018

Konkan Railway is running 202 trips of special trains during Ganesh festival 2018 in coordination with Central and western Railway from Mumbai / Pune / Ajni / Ahmedabad to Ratnagiri / Sawantwadi / Zarap / Pernem / Thivim / Madgaon / Mangaluru. Additional coaches have been attached to Ganapati Special trains this year due to which the passenger carrying capacity of these Ganpati special trains are more as compared to last year.

Extra booking windows will be opened at five stations of Ratnagiri region to clear rush at booking counters. Reservation facility is also available at 08 Post Offices apart from PRS at 07 Stations. Town booking agency at 09 location are also available to issue tickets. In addition to this, JanSadhran Ticket Booking Sevaks (JTBS) will remain functional at Ratnagiri & Sawantwadi station in addition to normal booking windows.

Intensive ticket checking will be carried out at stations and in trains to curb unauthorized passengers. All catering establishments are directed to operate extra tables / mobile trolleys to cater to the needs of passengers. All catering establishments are instructed to keep sufficient quantity of Janata Khana and drinking water at their stalls.

Medical check up booths are set up at important stations like Khed, Chiplun, Ratnagiri, Kankavli, Sindhudurg, Kudal, Sawantwadi in coordination with state health authorities. Close coordination is kept with MSRTC and local transport for operating services from Railway station to City. Traffic Assistance booths are set up at important stations to reduce congestion of traffic.

Special arrangements have been made for convenient, comfortable and safe journey passengers  For additional security, one company of Railway Protection Special Force (RPSF) has been deployed along with RPF staff for crowd control and maintaining law and order. The RPF staff from other regions of KRCL have also been mobilized and deployed at major station in the Ratnagiri section. The RPF will also be strategically deputed for escorting the most affected trains during this period. Total 207 RPF and Home guard persons have been deployed for security arrangements.  

Further, RPF staff have also been sensitized to respond quickly to messages received through Twitter and All India Security Helpline No. 182 in case of any security related problems. To further bolster the manpower, 60 Home Guards have also been deployed to assist the RPF. Police authorities have also assured of assistance in maintaining law and order in railway premises.
