CORPORATE SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

The thrust of CSR policy Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd (KRCL) is clearly on capacity building, empowerment of communities, inclusive socio-economic growth, environment protection, promotion of green and energy efficient technologies, development of backward regions, and upliftment of the marginalized and underprivileged sections of the society with following being the areas of focus:-

1. Skill Development for sustainable income generation & livelihood.
2. Literacy/Education.
3. Safe Drinking Water, Health Care & Sanitation.
4. Agriculture & Infrastructure Development.
5. Contribution to the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund, PM-CARES Fund or any other fund, set up by the Central Government.

KRCL is committed to do its share in empowering the youth of the country with vocational and technical skills to ensure better livelihood opportunities by allocating funds under its Corporate Social Responsibility. CSR Initiatives in selected Aspirational District has also been taken up. Various activities are being funded under CSR like construction and development of Ramakrishna Hegde Skill Development Centre, Udupi, Developmental Works in J&K, imparting education in computers to school children in rural areas, soft skills training to local youths and making them employable etc.

Ramakrishna Hegde Skill Development Center (RHSDC), Udupi has been set up by KRCL as a CSR initiative. Presently, the ground floor of the Institute has been constructed. RHSDC will help in increasing employability of local youth and help in realizing the objective of “Make in India” and Skill India”, a flagship programme of Government of India.

KRCL is also in the forefront to combat COVID-19 pandemic situation in the Districts of Konkan Region by way of contribution to the District Disaster Response Fund for providing Covid Care facilities in the districts.

The main aim of KRCL's CSR initiatives is to have a visible economic, environmental and social impact on the local populace and to lend a hand in Nation building. With its CSR initiatives, KRCL is upgrading skills and also increasing employability of the local youth by imparting training at RHSDC, Udupi. Further through the Aspirational Districts and Developmental Works, KRCL is ensuring environmental sustainability, promoting education, healthcare and sanitation.
