Konkan Railway Organizes Trade Meet at Ratnagiri to Boost Regional Logistics and Container Traffic

In a major initiative to strengthen regional logistics and enhance customer engagement, Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL) organized a high-level Trade Meet at Ratnagiri on 03.06.2026. The event served as a collaborative platform to interact with valued freight customers and apprise them of the recently upgraded and upcoming freight infrastructure across the Konkan Railway network.

The meeting was chaired by Shri. Santosh Kumar Jha, CMD / KRCL, and attended by key Senior Officials including the Director (Way & Works) / KRCL, Chief Operations Manager, Regional Railway Manager/ Ratnagiri, Regional Railway Manager/ Karwar and the Deputy General Manager (DGM) of the Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC).

A primary focus of the deliberations was the immense potential for container traffic moving from the Ratnagiri region to the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT) in Mumbai. To capitalize on this economic opportunity, Konkan Railway called upon all stakeholders to align their efforts toward a concrete milestone: Commencing the first dedicated rail container traffic by the first week of July 2026.

To ensure commercial viability and swift execution, the Central Warehousing Corporation (CWC) has committed to sharing highly competitive tariff rates with trade partners.

The meet witnessed wide participation from key trade partners specializing in the transportation of essential bulk commodities, including fertilizers and foodgrains to and from the Ratnagiri region. Also the senior representatives from both Jaigarh Port and Angre Port actively attended the meet, signalling strong maritime-rail alignment for future cargo movement.

Konkan Railway highlighted its recent capacity enhancements and upcoming freight terminals designed to offer faster, more reliable and cost-effective logistics solutions.

The interaction reflects Konkan Railway’s commitment to growing in partnership with its trade stakeholders. Through infrastructure enhancements and close coordination with CWC and regional ports, Konkan Railway is creating an integrated and efficient logistics network. The commencement of container traffic from Ratnagiri to JNPT by July remains a collective objective that will help streamline and strengthen regional supply chains.

Konkan Railway appreciated the support and feedback of all stakeholders and called for continued collaboration to ensure the success of the initiative.
