SPONSORSHIP OF 2ND RUNNER UP OF WOMENS’ MARATHON By KONKAN RLY WOMENS’ ASSOCIATION

On the occasion of the Women’s Day on 8th March, 2015 a marathon was organized for women in Mumbai. The Second Runner-up in the 21 km-run was Ms Supriya Patil, an Uran resident.

Ms Supriya Patil finished the race barefoot as, she said, she doesn’t have sports shoes meant for running which cost around Rs.10,000/- She is an upcoming athlete who aspires to represent India in the international sports. Hence, as a goodwill gesture and to motivate her, Konkan Railway Womens’ Welfare, Cultural & Social Service Association (KRWC&SSA) today sponsored the requisite amount for her so that she could utilize the same for pursuing her ambition.

The cheque of Rs.10,000/- was handed over to her yesterday (9th March) by Shri Bhanu Prakash Tayal, CMD of Konkan Railway & Patron/KRWC&SSA. Also present on the occasion were members of KRWC&SSA and senior officials of KRCL.
