Konkan Railway has registered a case against a passenger for the wrongful use of the Alarm Chain (ACP) on Train No. 12618 H. Nizamuddin - Ernakulam Jn. Mangala Express on 23/10/2025.

The incident took place between Diwankhawadi and Kalambani Budruk stations, where the passenger pulled the alarm chain after his mobile phone accidentally fell out of the train window. Upon the ACP being pulled, the train came to an unscheduled halt and the passenger alighted from the train to retrieve his phone from the track.

The incident was promptly reported by on-duty TTE, Shri P. M. Krishnan and Shri Ajit Jadhav (HTE/PNVL). Based on their report, the Railway Police have registered a case under Section 141 of the Indian Railways Act, 1989, which prohibits improper use of the alarm chain.

Konkan Railway makes a serious appeal to all passengers to use the Alarm Chain only in genuine cases of medical or personal emergencies. Misusing the alarm chain causes unnecessary delays, disrupts train schedules, and inconveniences fellow passengers. It may also attract penal action under the law.

Konkan Railway remains committed to ensuring safe, punctual, and smooth train operations, and requests the cooperation of the travelling public in maintaining discipline and safety onboard.
