Konkan Railway RPF Recovers Stolen Jewellery Worth ₹50 Lakh
Konkan Railway Protection Force (RPF) successfully apprehended four individuals involved in a jewellery theft case and recovered stolen gold ornaments valued at approximately ₹50 lakh, along with ₹34,500/- in cash. The timely coordination and alert action by the RPF led to the swift detection of the case.
On 14.11.2025, Konkan Railway received a tip-off regarding suspects involved in a major jewellery theft who were believed to be travelling towards Madgaon. Shri Arul Jyoti, IG-cum-PCSC / Southern Railway, alerted Shri Abhishek Kumar, IG-cum-PCSC/Konkan Railway and ASC/C&I/HQ Shri Jubir Khan Pathan, presently at Madgaon, that 4-5 suspects had boarded Train No.12620 Matsyagandha Express from Surathkal. Photographs and CCTV footage of the suspects were also shared.
A special team was immediately constituted and strategically deployed across the front and rear general coaches, some in TTE uniform, others disguised as hawkers and some travelling as regular passengers.
Upon the arrival of Train No. 12620 at Madgaon Railway Station (PF No. 1), the team successfully intercepted all four suspected individuals. During subsequent questioning at RPF Post Madgaon, the following items were recovered:
- Gold ornaments valued at approximately ₹50 lakh
- Cash totalling ₹34,500/-
- Two pocket cutters
- Four mobile phones
All four arrested persons, along with the recovered stolen property, were handed over to RPF/MAQ, Southern Railway, on 15.11.2025 for further investigation.
