Konkan Railway in the Service of Ganapati Devotees of Konkan Region
From 22nd to 31st August 2014 Konkan Railway has run 42 Special trains from Mumbai area towards Konkan Region.
They have carried about 45,000 Nos of Devotees to their homes in the Konkan Region. It will be worth mentioning that out of 42 Specials maximum 07 were run on 27th August to take care of extra rush of passengers.

Special Measures by Konkan Railway for Ganesh Utsav 2014
Konkan Railway will be running more than 200 Ganpati Special trains between 22nd August to 13th September 2014.
In order to facilitate proper and punctual running of these trains for the convenience of passengers, Konkan Railway has severely restricted movement of Goods Trains, including RORO on its system.

The following trains were detained due to tree fallen between Roha and Nagothane stations of Central Railway.
1)Train No. 19262 - 40 Min.
2) Train No. 02004 - 1 Hr 20 Min.
3) Train No. 16346 - 1 Hr 20 Min.

Low patronage of Shatabdi, Double Decker and AC Reserved Special
During the current Ganesh Utsav, Konkan Railway had introduced AC Shatabdi, Double Decker and AC Reserved special trains.
The patronage of these trains has been very low. The total occupancy in these trains since 22.08.14 up to 01.09.14 is tabulated below:-

Quick restoration
At 06:10 hrs on the morning of 24th August 2014, 08 loaded goods wagons derailed at Karanjadi station of Konkan Railway.
Without any delay, Accident Relief Trains along with 140T Cranes were rushed from Goa on Konkan Railway and Kurla on Central Railway.

Konkan Railway took an unprecedented step of imposing an exemplary fine of Rs. One Lakh on one of its catering contractors whose services were found deficient. The catering contractor was duly fined following complaints of poor quality of food.
