ACHIEVEMENTS OF KONKAN RAILWAY DURING LAST ONE YEAR

Konkan Railway is a vital link between Mumbai and Mangalore traversing through a distance of 741 Kms along the Western Ghats covering Four States viz. Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka & Kerala. It’s entire stretch is very unique, picturesque & comprises of difficult terrain which has been conquered by Konkan Railway and therefore it is recognized as an Engineering Marvel. It’s journey has been arduous and challenging during the construction phase and marvellous with the passage of time with many accolades to its credit.

KONKAN RAILWAY ADOPTS REGULAR TIME TABLE AFTER MONSOON

As a precautionary measure, taking into account the heavy rainfall, geographical and soil conditions as well as vulnerable sections on the Konkan Railway Route, Monsoon Time Table was adopted on Konkan Railway from 10th June to 31st October 2015 for safety and security of its esteemed passengers. Intensive footplate inspections as well as track safety inspections were carried out from time to time during the monsoon for smooth train operations.

Konkan Railway has completed its glorious 25 years of dedicated service to the people of Konkan in particular and the Nation in general. To commemorate its Silver Jubilee Celebrations, it proposes to connect Chiplun to Karad by Rail which will enable Port Connectivity to the Hinterland of Maharashtra. This will proove to be a big boost to the Industries to be set up thereby generating employment to the people of the region.

Silver Jubilee Celebrations of Konkan Railway, is an historical event and is a matter of Pride for the Nation. Co-incidentally it is also the birthday of Late Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, our beloved President of India, which has been declared as a “World Students’ Day” by the United Nations. This inspires Konkan Railway to be studious and innovative in its endeavours to achieve excellence in various fields of its working.

KONKAN RAILWAY OBSERVES REMEMBRANCE DAY
Every year on the 14th October, Konkan Railway observes Remembrance Day in memory of the 95 persons who laid down their lives during the construction of Konkan Railway or on duty during the operations phase.

A Shram Shakti Smarak has been constructed in front of Ratnagiri station in the memory of these 95 persons. The Shakti Smarak is made of black granite with the names of all the 95 persons etched on it.

Good news for passengers !! It has been decided to run Special Trains on Konkan Railway route to clear extra rush of passengers during Pooja/ Diwali  Festival in       co-ordination with  Central Railway.  The details are as under :-

1).Train no. 01001/01002 Mumbai CST- Karmali- Mumbai CST Reserved  Special train (Weekly).

Good news for passengers !! An additional 3-tier AC coach will be attached to the following trains on temporary basis by Northern Railway. Details are as under :

1) One additional 3-tier AC coach to Train No. 12450  Chandigarh – Madgaon from 03.10.2015 to 30.11.2015 and  Train No. 12449 Madgaon – Chandigarh from 06.10.2015 to 02.12.2015.
