Konkan Railway Recognises Frontline Vigilance Through ‘On-the-Spot’ Safety Awards
Konkan Railway continues to strengthen its culture of safety and vigilance through its proactive ‘On-the-Spot Cash Award’ initiative, aimed at recognising employees who identify safety threats in real time and take immediate preventive action. This initiative has been introduced by Shri Santosh Kumar Jha, CMD/KRCL, as a way to encourage prompt reporting and safety responsiveness further reinforces KRCL’s uncompromising commitment to passenger and operational safety while motivating staff across all sections to remain alert and vigilant.
During the first half of the Financial Year 2025–26, several employees across departments demonstrated exceptional alertness by detecting potential risks, preventing unsafe situations, and responding promptly to emergencies. Their swift action averted possible mishaps and ensured seamless train operations.
Konkan Railway has honoured the following employees for their exemplary contribution to safety:

1. Shri P. V. Rawool, TM–IV
Location: Km 353/020–040 (Sawantwadi Road - Zarap Section)
Action: Detected a fracture in the point and crossing stock rail, preventing a possible derailment.
Award: ₹15,000
2. Ms. Suvidha Swami, Station Master / Kankavali
Location: Sindhudurg Station
Action: Reported a hanging FP pipe of DN RO-RO SHRN KR–MANGAL rake, averting potential equipment failure.
Award: ₹1,000
3. Shri Narayan Nemlekar, Pointsman/Achirne
Location: Achirne Station
Action: Alert detection of a hanging FP pipe of DN RO-RO SHRN KR–MANGAL rake.
Award: ₹1,000
4. Shri Ranjit Singh & Shri Mahendra Pal, RPF Staff, and Shri Veer Singh, Authorised Vendor
Location: Ratnagiri Railway Station
Action: Displayed remarkable courage and presence of mind by rescuing a passenger who slipped while alighting from a moving train (Train No. 01167). Their swift action saved the passenger from falling under the train.

5. Shri P. L. Sawant, Trackman (P-29)
Location: Km 191/5–6 (Ukshi-Bhoke)
Action: Timely detection of rail fracture inside a tunnel, preventing a major incident.
Award: ₹10,000
6. Shri Sandesh Chavan, TTE/Ratnagiri
Location: Thane Railway Station
Action: Rescued a child from a suspicious person on Train No.11003 ( Tutari Express), ensuring the child’s safety.
Award: ₹15,000
